Throughout the project we observed a lot of users to get insights into their gardening routines.

Business development and strategic design have been a great focus throughout the master period. For ToolTower we developed a business plan based on Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas.

During the initiating research I was gardening for a couple of hours to experience myself, which pains occur during gardening and when they appear.

In the large team of 5 people the “To do, Doing, Done” board made a nice overview of the project progression.

The concept behind ToolTower is "The Hidden Stick" where an aid product helping the users to rise from the ground, is hidden behind a product with the practical purpose of transporting tools and weeds around the garden.

The theme of the project was "Home Health Care". In my team we chose to focus on gardening, which is the primary form of exercise for many elderly people. However, there are many elderly people who get back pain during gardening that makes it impossible for them to continue gardening.

During the project period I personally had a strong focus on user involvement in both research and evaluation of product concepts.

The evaluation of functional aspects like the placement of the parts and the height of the product was tested through quick-and-dirty models.

For the project it was our mission to create an innovative and realistic product. Market research was a focus of the project to map the business opportunities within gardening tools and home-health-care.
